The N310 is a mini-notebook computer based on a new concept, employing a friendly form and a gentle feel in a precision electronic product. The angular exterior form and glossy finish that symbolize state-of-the-art devices in general cause people to instinctively grow tense and reject the devices. An exterior with a gentle, warm surface and a friendly impression naturally relieve these tense feelings. In addition, this design proactively addresses environmental issues by using a unique exterior form made up of just two parts: the upper and lower components. The easy form and colors suited to the materials used, and the contrast with the interior interface, should appeal to users who focus on unique design.

Unconsciously, people choose utensils that are easy to use and forms that are suited to their hands. No matter how stylish it is, a form that must be used with care will be rejected by the body. For a netbook, carried with the user in a bag, a cure, friendly form is better than careful stylishness. Rather than resembling a precision electronic device, it should have a gentle, warm surface like a bag or a wallet, and a simple feeling with no protuberances. Rather than something rejected by the body unconsciously, it should be something the body unconsciously prefers.

This design proposes a new design language for the field of mini-laptop computers. The gentle impression of its form, the finish soft to the touch, combining input/output devices, which can cause noise, into the form, and its exterior consisting of two parts — upper and lower — clearly express through the design its purpose as a mobile laptop. This design can be regarded highly for the high level of its design, which differs from that of other computers, and gives the feeling of a personal computer for a new era.
