Description

JR West and JR Kyushu jointly developed the Series N700 7000/8000 Sinkansen to provide the complete Kyushu line service. This first direct Kansai to Kyushu region Shinkansen car was created in response to traveler needs in addition to high safety and reliability standards.

Evaluation

The guest cabins feature a space that evokes traditional Japanese materials and techniques and the flavor of cultural crafts. Using two rows of two sheets creates a feeling of openness and ease. Exposed wood grain and a modern take on Japanese design evoke a mood unique to the rail line connecting the Kansai and Kyushu areas. Based on the existing N700-series 16-seat layout, this new interior preserves that foundation while creating a charming new space intended for resort visitors on the Sanyo - Kyushu shinkansen.
