This is a television program in which Japanese reporters get
involved in overseas homestays, actually experience the daily
lives of people throughout the world, and report on their everyday
lives in the host country. Since its first broadcast in 1995,
the program has featured segments on over 90 countries, using
the experiences of the Japanese reporters to convey the diversity
of the world's peoples and cultures. We found the program to
be an exemplary model of media design and gave it high marks
for using the reporters' experiences to make the lives of the
world's people more real to the audience and for motivating
viewers to think about the current state of Japan by bringing
them the experiences of a fellow Japanese who has participated
in the life of another culture.
