Animated sign language software
translates Japanese into sign language through character-driven
animation. Japanese is translated into sign language animation
by simply inputting text as is done with a word processor.
The system features detailed settings for hand and finger
forms and phrases, as well as the capacity to translate
dialects and users' individual expressions. Version 2 is
particularly adept at translating natural expressions and
simplifies and reduces the cost of teaching sign language
and the process of providing information to the hearing
impaired.
The designers were commended for creating software that
allows the hearing impaired and hearing persons to share
information more easily and provides tools for increasing
communication possibilities beyond merely teaching sign
language.

Oval media table
surrounds users with information to create a new style of communication.
Operated by an ultrasonic touch-style panel, the system features
computer images viewed on transparent glass monitors. These screens
display text and images and swivel in the direction of individual
viewers. The easy-to-view screen images can be adjusted as needed.
Hardware and software were developed simultaneously to incorporate
a user-friendly interactive design.
The designers were commended for developing a new style of group
communication through a communication device incorporating new
methods of displaying information.
