Stool with revolving seat. Grinding-style
leg ends ensure a high level of safety. Made of highly recyclable
polypropylene and lacking inserts of different materials, this stool
can be easily and completely disassembled for disposal by users.
Despite its low price, the strength of this design creates a new
aesthetic for a familiar product. While the majority of recent office
furniture has tended to limit working styles, this stool provides
a wide variety of uses without being overly conspicuous. The designers
were commended for their stylish use of materials and exciting design
image that ensure product appeal.

Computed radiography (CR) device for medical
facilities reads images created by laser beams from plates with recorded
X-ray images as digital date. With the concept of an "all-in-one box" as
their basis, designers created a device that performs all required operations
from recording the patient data needed for CR tests through reading and
verifying images and transmitting data to network instruments, wrapping
all of this up in an easy-to-understand and aesthetically pleasing GUI.
To ensure accurate operations, this device also incorporates a touch-style
monitor. Meeting the DICOM industry standards for medical data transmission,
this system moves beyond the electronification of diagnostic data for a
single medical facility to make the creation of a worldwide medical facility
network and remote diagnosis possible. The designers were commended for
creating a system that will prove to be a pioneer in bringing medicine into
the next generation.
Designed for low cost and ease of use in taking
on-site measurements, flexible gauge provides extreme precision unparalleled
by other high-performance 3D measuring devices. This gauge allows users
to perform operations as usual without needing to understand complicated
coordinates. The design leaves one side open for the capacity to take large
measurements. The result is superior performance in a compact instrument.
The designers were commended for creating an extremely low-priced, yet high
performance product; for superior operability; for an appearance that expresses
safety and other aspects of a precision instrument with high-quality finish,
the backbone of Japanese manufacturing; and particularly for the product's
superior performance. |
